NASA’s Space Launch System rocket carrying the Orion spacecraft with NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, commander; Victor Glover, pilot; Christina Koch, mission specialist; and CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut Jeremy Hansen, mission specialist onboard launches on the Artemis II mission, Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

The Rensselaer Astrobiology Research and Education (RARE) Center, in collaboration with the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Nuclear Engineering (MANE), recently hosted a campus-wide celebration to watch the Artemis II launch.

The RARE Center is delighted to celebrate a local high school student, Mikaila, who has been selected as a finalist for the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), to be held in Phoenix, Arizona in May 2026.

RARE Research Featured in Upcoming PBS NOVA Documentary

Research conducted at the Rensselaer Astrobiology Research and Education (RARE) Center will be featured in an upcoming episode of PBS NOVA, titled Asteroids: Spark of Life? The film explores how asteroid impacts may have contributed key ingredients necessary for the emergence of life on Earth and potentially elsewhere in the solar system.
