Open Positions

The RARE Center is seeking applicants for one or more research staff positions. Research staff are responsible for providing technical expertise to facilitate the design, implementation, and analysis of experimental and modeling efforts, the publication of results, and the oversight of lab personnel. Rank of the research staff position will depend on post-degree experience. The Research Scientist is expected to lead independent and advanced research in one or more of RARE’s research areas and will be expected to possess recognition as an authority in fields relevant to RARE as evidenced in publication and scholarly dissemination. Research Associates/Specialists will be expected to oversee laboratory activities, including personnel training, instrument and facility maintenance, and day-to-day laboratory functions.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have an earned advanced degree (i.e. Masters or PhD) or foreign equivalent in Astrobiology, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Geochemistry, Physics, Geoinformatics, or a relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with specific expertise in experimental and analytical geochemistry, prebiotic chemistry, and/or related fields will be given first consideration.

The Postdoctoral Researcher will perform advanced research in one of RARE’s research areas. The incumbent is expected to develop and maintain scientific and technical expertise required to perform original research through self-direction and as part of a research team, and tailors research efforts to the needs of the supporting groups and research projects from academic institutions, industry and/or government.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in a relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with specific expertise in experimental prebiotic chemistry and/or early Earth geochemistry will be given first consideration.
