The RARE Center is delighted to celebrate a local high school student, Mikaila, who has been selected as a finalist for the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), to be held in Phoenix, Arizona in May 2026.
This outstanding achievement follows her first-place award at the regional Westchester Science & Engineering Fair, along with recognition from the Association for Women Geoscientists. Each year, millions of students worldwide participate in affiliated science fairs, with only a small fraction advancing to the international stage making this a truly exceptional accomplishment.
Her project reflects two summers of research in the RARE Center laboratories, where she worked with Dr. Meri Herrero and Dr. Ellie Hara under the direction of Professor Karyn Rogers.
We are proud to see her hard work and curiosity recognized at this level and look forward to her representing RARE on the international stage. Congratulations, and best of luck in May!
